Terms of Service

The service

OpenPrompt is a desktop application, with a companion website, that captures prompts from AI coding tools, keeps project context, and can run coding agents on your behalf - either through a CLI you have installed or through our hosted agent.

You need an account to use hosted features. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for everything done under it.

Your code and your content

Your code stays yours. We claim no ownership over anything you write, capture, or generate with OpenPrompt.

You are responsible for having the right to use the code and content you point OpenPrompt at, and for reviewing anything an agent produces before you ship it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use OpenPrompt to:

• break the law, or infringe anyone else’s rights
• access systems, repositories, or accounts you are not authorised to access
• work around the limits on your plan, or resell hosted capacity
• generate malware, or content intended to harm or deceive people

Plans and limits

Each plan carries limits on hosted calls, projects, and agent tokens. Those limits are enforced by the service, and they are visible to you on your dashboard and in the app.

Team plans have a fixed number of seats. The team’s root user sets each seat’s allowances, and can add or remove members; removing someone returns them to the free plan.

Work done by a coding agent you installed and signed into yourself is never metered by us.

AI output and limitations

OpenPrompt produces output using AI models, and that output can be wrong. The specific limitations are set out below, and you accept them by using the features they describe.

• AI output can be wrong. Generated code, commit messages, and rewritten prompts may contain mistakes, insecure patterns, or confident-sounding claims that are simply false. Review everything before you rely on it.
• Agents edit real files. In Agent Mode a coding agent creates, changes, and deletes files in the folders you grant it, and runs commands on your machine. Work in version control and commit before you start, so anything unwanted can be undone.
• Local CLI agents (Claude, Codex, Cursor, Antigravity) run under your own accounts and licences. What they send, retain, and charge for is governed by that vendor, not by OpenPrompt.
• Hosted agents run on Amazon Bedrock. Model availability, rate limits, and occasional outright failures come with the service; a task can stop midway, and a stopped task can leave partial edits behind.
• File and prompt monitoring is best effort. OpenPrompt can miss a prompt, attribute one to the wrong project, or record a change late - it is a record of your work, not an audit log.
• Nothing here is professional advice. OpenPrompt does not review your code for security, licensing, or compliance.

Third-party services

OpenPrompt integrates with services you choose to connect: GitHub, and the coding-agent CLIs from Anthropic, OpenAI, Cursor and Google. Those are governed by their own terms, and OpenPrompt is not responsible for their availability, output, pricing, or handling of your data.

Our own hosted features run on the OpenPrompt API, which we operate on AWS. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your code or prompts to train models.

No warranty, and what we are liable for

OpenPrompt is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that anything it generates is correct or fit for your purpose.

To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to OpenPrompt is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect damages.

Ending it

You can stop using OpenPrompt at any time, and delete the app and its local data yourself.

We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms. If we change these terms materially, we will say so in the app and on this page before the change takes effect.
