OpenPrompt for GitHub Copilot

GitHub Copilot is part of the same agent roster as Claude, Codex, Cursor and Antigravity, so it can take tasks from one cockpit instead of its own window.

Copilot as an agent

Copilot appears under Agent CLIs in Agent Mode. If its CLI is missing, install it from Settings, then connect it. Connected agents plan and run tasks, and @mentions route work to a named project agent.

Agent CLIs run under your own accounts and licences. What they send, retain and charge for is governed by that vendor, not by OpenPrompt.

VS Code prompts in the same thread

Prompts from VS Code land in the same thread as Cursor, Claude, Codex and Antigravity, filed by folder like everything else. VS Code has its own switch under Monitor my IDEs.

For teams

On the Team plan, the team’s root user can limit which agents seat holders may connect: any agent, or only an approved list that can include GitHub Copilot. An agent left off the list doesn’t appear in the app. See team rules.

Set it up

  1. Download OpenPrompt and sign in.
  2. Open Agent CLIs. Install the Copilot CLI from Settings if it isn’t there, then connect it.
  3. Create a project for the repository and start a task.

Where the data lives

Captured prompts stay on your machine, in SQLite at ~/.openprompt/prompts.db. Credential-shaped files (env files, .pem and .key files, anything named credentials or containing "secret") are never indexed. You can pause any project from its ⋯ menu in the sidebar, and the privacy policy lists exactly what is sent and when.

Use GitHub Copilot with OpenPrompt

Free to start on macOS, Windows and Linux. No card required.
