Getting started
OpenPrompt is a desktop app that sits above Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and Copilot. Getting set up is four short steps: install, sign in, link a folder, choose what to capture.
Install the desktop app
Pick the build for your machine on the download page. The installer puts OpenPrompt in your applications folder like any other desktop app.
- macOS: Apple Silicon or Intel · macOS 13 or later
- Windows: Windows 10 or later · x64 or ARM64
- Linux: x64 · AppImage, .deb, or .rpm
Sign in
Opening the app sends you to openprompt.tech to sign in with Google, then hands the session back. Your plan and limits travel with the account, so the desktop app and the web dashboard always agree.
Link a project folder
Point OpenPrompt at a repository. It indexes the project, watches the editors you already use, and starts filing prompts, context and diffs against it. A project can own more than one folder; projects and capture explains how prompts find the right one.
Choose what to capture
Monitor my IDEs is the master switch, and each app can be turned off beneath it. Cursor, Codex and Antigravity are read from the chat logs they keep in the project folder. Capturing Claude Desktop on a Mac needs Accessibility permission, which macOS will ask you to grant.
Connect your agents (optional)
To hand work to Claude, Codex, Cursor, Antigravity or Copilot from OpenPrompt, connect their CLIs in Agent Mode. A missing CLI can be installed from Settings, then connected. Sign in runs the CLI’s own sign-in inside the app, and the vendor’s page it opens can create an account too.
Take the tour
If you have no projects yet, a short guide opens in the corner of the app. It starts with creating a project, walks through Captures, Git, Usage and the Workbench, and ends at connecting an agent. Skip it whenever you like, and run it again from Start tour in Settings.
